The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, the Spanish Metrology Centre, CEM, and the Spanish National Accreditation Body, ENAC, have held a meeting to promote new projects for Spanish quality infrastructure, within the collaboration protocol framework signed in 2023 at the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism headquarters.

Among the highlighted topics is the "Spanish Quality Infrastructure" promotion website, organizing the "Quality Infrastructure Support to the Spanish AI Strategy deployment" event and doing training courses. In addition, the status of Georgia's Twinning Project, which seeks to strengthen the alignment of Georgian technical requirements with those of the EU, as well as the status of the Serbia Project, was addressed in the international cooperation field.

The meeting, held at the UNE headquarters, was attended by Javier García, UNE General Manager and Vice-President of ISO; José Ángel Robles, CEM Director and Beatriz Rivera, ENAC General Manager. They were accompanied by Paloma García, Director of Standardization Programmes and Stakeholders at UNE, and Mónica Sanzo, Director of Cooperation and International Relations at UNE.

A strong quality infrastructure contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the activity sector and the Spanish economic and industrial fabric, as well as to improving the EU Internal Market helping it to work effectively and to access third country markets.

UNE, CEM and ENAC constitute the three basic pillars of the Spanish quality infrastructure. Their joint work in standardization, metrology, and accreditation boosts the productive fabric's competitiveness, as well as provides safety and trust in products and services.
